The Shift is a business community in the San Francisco Bay Area. We run events for founders, operators and builders who want to use AI to grow their business.
Why we started it
AI is changing how companies find customers, build products and organize work. Some old approaches still work, and some don’t.
We wanted a place to compare notes with people facing the same questions. The Shift is for people who run a business or a team, and for people just getting started with AI. You don’t need a technical background.

Who is The Shift for?
Founders, operators and business owners in the Bay Area who want to use AI in their business. You don’t need a technical background.
I’m new to AI. Is this for me?
Yes. Some events are for people just starting out. Others go deeper into using AI inside a company.
Do I need to apply to come to an event?
No. Anyone can RSVP on Luma. The application is for membership, and members get introductions after events.
How do I join?
Fill out the application on this site. It takes about two minutes.
What does it cost?
Each event has its price or deposit on its Luma page. Some events are free with a refundable deposit, so the seats go to people who show up.
How do introductions work?
We read your application and pick three people worth meeting. Both sides agree first. You get the introductions within 48 hours after the event.
What is the Chatham House Rule?
You can use what you hear, but you can’t say who said it. It lets speakers share real numbers.
Can my company sponsor an event?
Yes. Sponsors don’t pitch from the stage, and we never share the guest list. See the partners page for details.
